Keynote Speaker: Andy Hickner, MSI, RTIFAndy Hickner, MSI, is the Education and Outreach Librarian at Weill Cornell Medicine and a Director of the Medical Library Association (MLA). Andy helped lead MLA and AAHSL’s governmental advocacy efforts for several years, as a member of the MLA/AAHSL Joint Legislative Task Force (2019-2021); as Co-Chair of the Governmental Relations Committee (2020-2021); and most recently as Vice-Chair of the MLA/AAHSL Joint Legislation Committee (2021-2023). He also helped craft MLA’s guidelines for engagement with societal issues as a member of the MLA Societal Issues Task Force. At Weill Cornell, Andy has participated in meetings with New York’s congressional delegation as part of the annual Rally for Medical Research. Andy began his career as an aide to the late U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) from 2006-2008. He earned his BA in political theory and constitutional democracy from Michigan State University and a Master of Science, Information from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. |
