Call for Lightning Talks and Posters

Please submit your proposal for a lightning talk (8 slides in 8 minutes) or poster (boards are 36" x 48") for the Sixth Annual Meeting of the MLA Liberty Chapter to be held Oct. 20, 2026, at Thomas Jefferson University (Jefferson Alumni Hall, 1020 Locust St., Philadelphia PA 19107). The meeting will be held in person and virtually.

  • Think about items to share with colleagues around the meeting theme, "Honoring the Past, Envisioning the Future."
  • They can be research, project descriptions, or perspectives.
  • Materials presented at other meetings will be considered.
  • All project stages, from conceptual development to final results, are acceptable.
  • Proposal abstracts should be 3000 characters or less. (Tips on writing a better abstract. Proposals will be judged using the MLA '26 Rubrics, p.11-19. Perspectives will be judged using a modified version of the program description rubric, without the “key steps” and “evaluation” sections.)
  • Slides of lightning talks and PDFs of posters will be available to the public unless you opt out. This will not affect acceptance decisions.
  • Presenters must be registered for the conference and can present lightning talks in person or virtually. (Posters must be presented in person.)
  • Timeline:
    • 8/14, deadline for submission 
    • 8/21, acceptance announced 
    • 10/13, submit final slides/poster PDF
    • 10/20, conference
